I purchased this for my 71 year old wife who has moderate to severe Alzheimer's Disease. I observed that when she was sleeping supine she snored loudly and had occasional pauses in her breathing (probable obstructive sleep apnea). I considered putting her through sleep diagnostic testing but given her cognitive impairment I knew she would never tolerate CPAP.
I then tried several back-avoidance devices and all failed for various reasons. Then I tried Rematee with straps and those straps made all the difference. I have been monitoring nightly her sleep with Zeo so I have accumulated a lot of sleep data on her. Included in that was a "split night" with the 1st half sleeping without Rematee, and the latter half with. A huge difference in sleep...passed the so-called inter-ocular traumatic test:the difference hits you between the eyes. Now she is sleeping well most nights and is doing better during the day as well.

The Rematee shoulder straps solved the problem of the bumper belt shifting around while I slept. It worked very well.

velcro is poor design |

I got these because my chest strap was twisting during the night. The shoulder straps did help this issue. However it seems clear to me that the straps are a design-afterthought. While they velcro well underneath the inflatable tubes on the back, the front velcro continually comes out making the arrangement flimsy. Once or twice a week I need to readjust or re-attach the straps. This is a pain. However, as I said at the outset, they do keep the chest strap from twisting so they do work despite the hassles.

Shoulder Straps |

I've been using the Bumper Belt for almost a year and occasionally wake up with the belt slipping or turning on me. Last month my doctor suggested I try attaching the shoulder straps to my XL belt and they work amazing. I wish I got the straps last year when I first started with the bumper belt.
