How Snoring Affects Health

Other than relational and sleep deprivation impacts, snoring also has numerous affects on health.  Snoring causes reduced oxygen flow to the brain, which can lead to:
  •     Heart disease
  •     Stroke
  •     High blood pressure
  •     Hypertension
Snoring may also be a symptom of sleep apnea*.  Sleep apnea is a sleep disorder characterized by pauses in breathing during sleep. The episodes or apneas (which literally means “without breath”) last long enough so that one or more breaths are missed, which can occur repeatedly throughout the night.  The episodes may happen a few times or several hundred times per night.
